Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of dental pulp-related issues. The dental pulp, located at the core of your tooth, houses nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes infected or damaged, endodontic treatment becomes necessary to save the tooth.
Most patients wear braces for between 18 and 24 months. However, for bad cases of misaligned teeth, patients may be required to wear braces for up to three years.
A small amount of pain and discomfort is usual after braces are first worn or readjusted by your orthodontist. However, the pain should subside after no more than a week. Speak to your dentist if the pain persists.
Generally speaking, patients with braces will need to go for checkups every four to ten weeks, on top of regular dental appointments.
There are many foods to avoid while wearing braces. These include:
● Chewy food, such as licorice
● Crunchy food, such as popcorn
● Sticky food, such as caramel
● Hard food, such as nuts and apples
After having your braces removed, you’ll need to wear a retainer full-time for up to three months. Afterward, under guidance from your dentist, you can transition to wearing a retainer only at night.
